Time left to Workforce 20/20 Summit

Why this Summit?

As we approach a new decade, one issue has emerged as the biggest challenge facing Atlantic Canada's business community – workforce attraction and retention. From small mom-and-pop shops to giant industrial players, virtually every business has been challenged to find the right skilled labour to meet workforce demands.

The Chamber of Commerce for Greater Moncton and 3+ Corporation want to contribute to the dialogue around this issue, and work with business and other stakeholders to find solutions to this challenge.

David is the President of Jupia Consultants Inc., an economic development consulting and research firm based in Moncton. Previously, he was Chief Economist with the New Brunswick Jobs Board Secretariat. In that role, he led the development of economic policy and economic development strategy for the Government of New Brunswick. David has more than 25 years’ experience as a consultant and working with industry, not-for-profit organizations and governments across Canada. In recent years, David’s consulting practice has evolved to include labour market development research and related strategy development.

His presentation at the Workforce 20/20 Summit will focus on the changing talent pipeline for workers in Greater Moncton.  He will complete a historical review of the sources of labour (local, provincial, national and international) and show how this is changing and will change in the coming years.  In order to have a strong and sustainable economy moving forward, we will need to rethink our approach to labour market development.
